Finally some fairness in the lottery

Post on June 4, 2008 by 2 Comments »

The House voted unanimously Wednesday afternoon to give employees of the North Carolina Education Lottery the same raise as all other state employees, which in the House budget is 2.75 percent or $1,100, whichever is greater.

Lottery Executive Director Tom Shaheen announced recently that lottery employees would receive a five percent raise and said that other state workers ought to apply at the lottery if they want to make more money, a display of arrogance that did not go unnoticed by state workers or legislators.

Good for the House. Finally some fairness associated with state's ill-advised and exploitative gambling scheme.
