The campaign commercial we haven’t seen in NC

This commercial features Representative Tom Allen, the Democrat running for Senate in Maine against Republican Susan Collins.

Allen has a plan to achieve universal health care coverage that combines a few common sense principles – allow people to keep their current plan if it works for them, expand successful public programs, and provide more choice.

Unfortunately, neither candidate for Senate in North Carolina has spent much time discussing health care, and certainly neither has a plan that would expand access to everyone.

Elizabeth Dole seems to support the radical McCain care plan that attacks the employer-based insurance that most people like, and Kay Hagan’s platform includes a few vague statements about eliminating “extraordinary waste” in the system and increasing the number of nurses.

Let’s hope that bold leadership on the national stage comes out of Maine because it’s not coming out of North Carolina right now.

Why not single-payer universal health care as in U.S Representative Conyers” H.R. 676? Everything else is patchwork and too expensive. Health care should exclude insurance companies and their big overhead and should not be employment based. Pleas check out this bill.
