McHenry misleads

Posted at 3:13 PM by Chris Fitzsimon

As shocking as it might be, North Carolina Congressman Patrick McHenry is one of a handful of Republicans misleading his constituents about the federal stimulus bill.

Think Progress reports that McHenry is still claiming that the plan won’t help the economy for years, citing a preliminary and incomplete analysis from the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO recently issued a full report on the House stimulus plan and concluded that two-thirds of the plan’s investments will be made within 18 months.

That didn’t stop McHenry from issuing a press release saying that “over half the money will be spent between 2011 and 2019.”

A right-wing talking point remains a right-wing talking point regardless of the facts. It sure must make the folks in the 10th District proud.
