Allred’s absurdity

Post on March 3, 2009 by 7 Comments »

Rep. Cary Allred, Republican from Alamance County, delivered a bizarre rant Tuesday against the statewide smoking ban before the House Health Committee.

Allred said several of his relatives smoked and did not die of lung cancer, which in his mind seems to disprove more than 50 years of science. But he didn’t stop there.

He told the committee that the state should not ban smoking, that the market would take care it rather than

this Gestapo Nazi goverment we are imposing here.

Yikes.

Listened in on NC LEGS audio after they cleared up the technical difficulties. Wish I could have SEEN Cary’s rant.

Anyway, the health committee voted for the bill, they didnt buy Allred’s arguement.

    Referred to Judicary 1.

They might not have died of lung cancer, but it appears they all got brain damage.

He is a pompous person and does not need to be representing our county. He does not realize he is part of the “Gestapo
Nazi country” and does not realize the significance of scientific studies done on smoking! Also, how secondary smoke affects people.

Some smokers are like a gestapo nazi bunch Allred refers to in imposing their smoke on non-smokers.

I support HB2 to ban public smoking. However, the history of the Nazis and tobacco control is worth reflecting on…

“Gestapo government? Mr. Allred, I dont think so. That would be the response, if I lit up a marijuana ciggy at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, and an illegal odor was detected.

Mgmt. would get on the phone, call the cops and I would be arrested.

I dont think the enforcement provisions of HB2 are anywhere near that ‘gestapo’ LOL

People who view other people as a means to an end rather than as an end in themselves are no better than the Nazis, Fascists, or any other tyrrant of old.

Progressives, liberals, or whatever you want to call yourselves, see people as nothing more than tools for achieving ill conceived social engineering projects.
