Top of the morning

Here’s a reminder of why passing any meaningful health care reform in Washington is so difficult, courtesy of Think Progress.

A memo to GOP leaders from the most well-known Republican spin doctor and misleading-soundbite-creator Frank Luntz offers advice about how to stop Obama’s health care plan. The short version is that they should ignore the facts about Obama’s plan and scare people into opposing it.

Luntz wants Republicans to avoid talking about how to solve the health care crisis, mostly because the GOP doesn’t have a plan, and use language that “captures not just what Americans want to see but what they want to hear.”

As Think Progress reminds us, Luntz also provides his pearls of obstructionist wisdom to health insurance companies too.

Remind me again why not to be cynical about what passes for a health care debate.

Wish I could help you with that, but I’m in the same sinking boat.

Put Luntz in the same boat with Rush, Hannity, Savage and Ann C.
In the middle of the north sea in the winter.
