Top of the morning

A health care report released by this week by the Commonwealth Fund deserves a lot more attention than it’s getting.  It finds that 52 percent of women have trouble accessing the health care they need because of cost.

More than 60 percent of working-age women have problems paying medical bills or accessing health care because of cost. Roughly 50 percent of men face the same struggle.

When some folks tell us we have the best health care system in the world, they must mean we have the best system for half of our people. The other half are on their own.
