Top of the morning

The high-quality, informative policy debates continue on cable news shows, this time about Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court.

Former Congressman Tom Tancredo appeared on CNN Thursday to complain about Sotomayor’s membership in La Raza, a widely respected Latino civil rights and advocacy group whose board chair is Andrea Bazan, who runs the Triangle Community Foundation in North Carolina.

Tancredo called La Raza a “Latino KKK” and distorted the translation of the group’s name. Talking Points Memo has the details of Tancredo’s appearance and also quotes Bill Gheen of the Raleigh-based and misleadingly-named Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, who refers to Sotomayor as an “Hispanic supremacist.”

Why does CNN feel the need to put these guys on television?

For some reason, this is all striking me a kinda funny, in a sick sort of way. Freud (or somebody) would have a field day with the projection.

If a white person, male or female, was up for this appointment and was a member of any organization called “The National Council of (anything that could possible be interpreted as racial)” this person would be destroyed publicly by this blog and every other leftwinger in America.

    That’s called hypocrisy.

Poor Chris Fitzsimon. Each time he rights about Bill Gheen he makes it very clear he is jealous that Gheen gets to go on FOX and CNN while he does not. Hey Chris, you have not won one against Gheen yet over at the NC General Assembly have you? What’s the legislation score? Gheen 4 Fitzsimon 0? Try not to look so overtly jealous and bitter each time you write about Bill would ya?

    Hey Chris,
I like your blog, but I don’t usually comment. I know of others that also like your blog and don’t comment. I’m sorry the trolls are the only ones that do.
Hope you have a fantastic day.
