Top of the morning
Forget all this talk about health care reform. Don’t worry about the 50 million people who are uninsured or the thousands of families in North Carolina losing their health care during this recession.
Nothing is really going to happen with health care reform for five to ten years, according to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina CEO Bob Grecyzn. And Grecyzn should know. BCBSNC is one of the leaders in the efforts to derail a public health care option for consumers, a key part of President Obama’s health reform proposal.
The company was called out by the Washington Post last month when word leaked about misleading ads BSBCNC was producing about Obama’s plan.
The Triangle Business Journal reports that Greczyn addressed the furor created by the Post story in his Friday speech in Chapel Hill.
Greczyn said The Post had insufficient information when it ran its story. The insurer has posted those videos on a Web site, www.nchealthreform.com, which the company says is intended to help educate North Carolina residents about health reform.
As Adam Searing reported here last week, the Post had plenty of information and had the essence of the story right in its report about the company’s efforts to squash the public plan option.
But don’t worry if you are one of the 1.4 million people in North Carolina without health insurance. Greczyn says there is a reason to smile.
We’ll be having a lot of fun with this
Isn’t it nice to be part of his summer entertainment?
