Bottom line: money

In his column “The summer of our cynical discontent“, Chris Fitzsimon expresses frustration that big money lobbyists are running the show in both Washington and Raleigh.

Progressive Voices commentator Molly Beacham notes the positive direction campaign finance reform is taking and urges voters to push for additional changes to further lessen the influence of big money on politicians in her column “New momentum for public campaign financing.”

Rob Schofield speaks out for the victims of the state’s eugenics program in his Weekly Briefing “A real scandal that needs addressing” arguing that tight budget or not compensation for this atrocity is long overdue.

A new report from the NC Budget & Tax Center shows that the House budget includes modest and sensible measures to increase revenue and strives to avoid the most painful budget cuts.
