Future predictions
In his column “Degrees of jeopardy for public schools“, Chris Fitzsimon makes the connection between student performance and poverty, pointing out that while schools came through the budgeting processes less scathed than they might have been, poor families in North Carolina were not as fortunate. Ultimately, we can expect the toll place on poor families this year to show up in school performance measures in the future.
