The North Carolina Republican party is running shameless ads that lie to seniors about Medicare reforms in health care legislation pending in Congress. Fetzer and friends are now out defending Medicare, a government-run, single payer system.
One part of the ad criticizes health care legislation that includes:
Cuts to programs seniors rely on like Medicare Advantage.
But today a member of the Republican Senate leadership, John Thune of South Dakota, indicated that there is GOP support for cutting subsidies to Medicare Advantage.
According to the Wall Street Journal :
Thune specifically said some Republicans would be open to President Barack Obama’s call to cut into the subsidies for private insurers participating in the Medicare Advantage program.
“Republicans have been open to looking at Medicare Advantage and whether there are savings to be had there,” Thune said.
Apparently North Carolina Republicans are more interested in fear mongering than reform.
