Twenty-two of the 28 Democratic governors have signed on to a letter to members of Congress asking them to pass health care reform this year.
Our own Governor Beverly Perdue is among the six who did not sign. Talking Points Memo has the details, including comments from Perdue’s spokesperson, Chrissy Pearson.
TPM said Pearson wouldn’t comment specifically on the letter, but did offer this about Perdue’s position.
She understands reform is necessary and is very carefully watching what is going on at the federal level. She wants to make sure reforms don’t place an undue financial burden on the states.
It would be nice if she also expressed her concern about the undue burden the current health care system is placing on the 1.5 million people in North Carolina who are uninsured.
