Much of the right-wing press jumping to Rush Limbaugh’s defense after the NFL decided not to allow Limbaugh to pursue efforts to buy the St. Lous Rams claim that all the allegations about Limbaugh’s racist comments were unfounded, made up by critics.

In response, the group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting compiled a list of documented statements by Limbaugh with citations. Here’s one.

Have you ever noticed how all newspaper composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

Gee, not much racist about that.

Even though I disagree with most everything Limbaugh
says on his radio program, freedom of speech overides
his comments. Once we start trying to control the
speech of others,we all lose. He loves the attention and
this only increases the size of his audience and further
promotes his agenda when his right to free speech
is questioned.
I don’t agree with him….but our freedom of speech is
too precious to violate.

The First Amendment’s guarantee of free speech proscribes the the government from limiting speech and other forms of expression. Nobody’s suggesting that Limbaugh’s speech should be squelched in such a way.

Limbaugh being pushed out of the Rams deal is no different than any other entertainer losing business or other opportunities because he or she enaged in stupid behavior or offended an audience.

Just because, for instance, some right-wing coporation — say Domino’s Pizza — doesn’t invite the Dixie Chicks to sing at its national sales meeting doesn’t mean its attacking free speech, it means that Dominos is exercising its rights . Same with the NFL when it wisely told the the Big Fat Idiot where to stick his cigar.

When Limbaugh goes on vacation, he often entrusts his show to his guest host Walter E. Williams, an African American professor of economics at George Mason University. Professor Williams guest hosts on a fairly regular basis, actually.

I am just letting you know this because I am sure none of you who attack him have ever actually listened to him.

This isn’t about free speech! He can say anything he wants to say. But why do you think he can say anything WITHOUT ANY CONSEQUENCES? Why do people think that criticizing what someone says is equivalent to shutting them up? It’s not the same thing at all …

And IBXer, that’s like saying “I have black friends” and thinking that means it’s impossible to be a racist. News Flash! Saying that probably means you ARE a racist. I guess you just blew your own cover.

The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, (which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism, one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money (Marshall Faulk) that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well they work as a team and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last couple of days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so what is being stifled, it simply is not true, of course, you may not have a radio, so you might want to get one.

Are you trying to say that BHO isn’t black? That’s all half the comments say. These are about as racist as saying white folks are monkeys since liberals say Bush looked like one. Also, since these are not annotated by date, I doubt the accuracy of the report.
