State Health Plan sets penalties

To ensure that state employees aren’t sneaking cigarettes at work the State Health Plan is contracting with a company to travel around the state shoving swabs in the mouths of workers.
We knew this was going to happen. But what if employees decline to undergo this violation? The State Health Plan has dreamed up some great punishments.
Members, who refuse testing, do not submit a completed Physician Certification Form within fifteen (15) business days of request, or fail the tobacco use or BMI tests will be moved to the 70/30 Basic Plan for the rest of the Plan year. The move to the 70/30 Basic Plan will include all covered family members. Those members will forfeit any coinsurance and deductible(s) already paid under the 80/20 Standard Plan and will only be eligible to enroll in the 70/30 Basic Plan for the following Plan year. Members may not appeal the stated consequences if they refuse testing or do not submit a Physician Certification Form within fifteen (15) business days of the Plan’s request.
The SHP is also going to conduct a dependent audit to make sure that no state employee is including an ineligible child on the plan. If such a child is caught, the SHP is reserving the right to pursue back payments against the offending state employee. All deductible and premium payments will be forfeited.
So the humiliation continues.
