Climate change and taxes

At the Joint Finance Committee meeting yesterday, Chris Fitzsimon found the discussion taking  “Questionable directions on tax reform.” You will want to read his comments about the sales tax debate.

In his Weekly Briefing “From Copenhagen to Raleigh,” Rob Schofield highlights the world and local events taking place next week to address global warming. Schofield reminds us that the solutions to global warming will be found in smart, public policies.  His Weekly Briefing includes an invitation to NC Policy Watch’s Crucial Conversation Luncheon on December 9th with special guest speaker, Todd Wooten, director of the Southeast Climate Resources Center at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University and a former legislative counsel to U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Joining him on the panel will be Veronica Butcher of the North Carolina Conservation Network and Dr. Steve Jackson of the N.C. Budget and Tax Center.  You can register for this event by clicking here.
