Dr. Atkinson on payment reform

The CEO of WakeMed Health & Hospitals, Dr. Bill Atkinson, says on his blog that he is working with an American Hospital Association task force on payment reform. The group is working on how to bundle payments instead of relying on our current fee-for-service system that rewards volume of care but not quality of care.

The post is definitely worth a read. (I asked a follow up question in the comment section but it’s still being vetted. I guess I’ll find out whether or not it was appropriate.)
