Changing climates, changing attitudes

Post on December 18, 2009 by 1 Comment »

One of the highlights of the Copenhagen summit this week was a pledge by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the United States would help raise $100 billion for the developing world to address their climate change needs.

Rep. Pricey Harrison, one of the most outspoken environmental advocates in North Carolina’s legislature, says it’s clear to her that our state and our nation must move forward with a comprehensive plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Harrison notes that while North Carolina is the only state in the Southeast with a Renewable Portfolio Standard, more must be done to address our future growth and improve our energy efficiency.

Obama’s address at Copenhagen was harsh and all too vague about how America and the world can take a more progressive approach to global warming. Hopefully his private discussions and meetings with other global leaders will lead to more progress and clearer goals than his public address
