If you want to know how safe your drinking water is, check out the the New York Times story this week on the effects of pollution on the nation’s water supply.

The report comes with a state by state analysis based on data collected by the Environmental Working Group. The North Carolina page allows you to look at the status of virtually every water system in the state and find out how many contaminants were found in the water above legal limits and how many were found below legal limits but above health guidelines.

The report finds that the Durham water system has four contaminants, the most of any system in the Triangle. You can check out the findings from Burnsville to Elizabeth City.
