The master of question time

ObamaAnyone who hasn’t yet checked out the President’s fairly masterful performance last week before the House Republican caucus should watch or read it when they get a chance by clicking here.

There were so many instances in which Obama showed himself to be better informed and more thoughtful than his critics that it’s hard to pick out just one highlight. (The fact that he continues to indulge his penchant for speaking in actual, complete sentences was a personal favorite of mine).

The whole thing was enough to make you wonder if we shouldn’t figure out a way to make such an exercise a new and permanent part of the of the Washington scene as is done in the British House of Commons.

    Headlines from Democracy Now Today:

Obama Seeks $44B Increase for Pentagon; $5B for Nuclear Arsenal

President Obama is unveiling a record $3.8 trillion budget for 2011 today. The budget would boost war spending while trimming domestic expenditures. Obama is seeking a $44 billion increase in the military’s budget. If approved, this will bring the Pentagon’s budget to $708 billion. The Obama administration is also asking Congress to increase spending on the US nuclear arsenal by more than $5 billion over the next five years. Obama is seeking the extra money despite a pledge to cut the US arsenal and seek a nuclear weapons-free world. The Obama administration argues that the boost in spending is needed to ensure that US warheads remain secure and work as designed as the arsenal shrinks and ages.

For a long time I’ve thought it would be a good idea for the President to encounter Congress as in the recent event. It would require that both the President and the legislators be well-informed about be able to think on their feet. (We can think of a number of legislators and at least one President who don’t meet either requirement.) At least one newscaster commented that this was more useful than the State of the Union address–and I agree.

If he isn’t a Bolshevik as he claims, can anyone here name 1 issue, just 1 thing, that is a part of Obama’s agenda and yet is NOT currently endorsed by CPUAS?

I would like to know what that 1 thing is that Obama disagrees with them on. I really would. Just one, please.

Damn, another brilliant plot foiled again by that intrepid IBXer. He’s simply too smart for us, comrades. Back to Albania!
