A pair a what?

This may be matter of piling on at this point, but does anyone else find some irony in the fact that congressional candidate Tim D’Annunzio (he of the “Machine Gun Social and Fundraiser” and the “Christ’s War” blog ) has started multiple military equipment companies under the moniker “Paraclete.” His campaign website mentions Paraclete Armor and Equipment, Inc. and Paraclete XP SkyVenture.

As best as this Biblical non-scholar can determine, the term derives from the Greek word, parakletos, which basically refers to the Holy Ghost — “one who consoles, one who intercedes on our behalf, a comforter or an advocate.”

Talk about the ultimate modern conservative conflation of two diametrically opposed ideas! What’s next – a company called “Prince of Peace Automatic Weapons”?
