Marshalling support for reform
The Obama administration and the GOP continue to clash over a proposed February 25th televised summit to discuss health-insurance reform. Now some political pundits are speculating whether the GOP will try to bow out of the summit entirely.
U.S. Senator Richard Burr told WPTF Tuesday that while Republicans would attend the public event, quick compromise was unlikely on the merged House and Senate health care bills.
Success of the summit aside, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elaine Marshall says members of Congress have a duty to fix the nation’s ailing health care system. Marshall tells Chris Fitzsimon this especially apparent when it comes to controlling skyrocketing costs and helping those with pre-existing conditions.
