Here are some more numbers about our mental health system as a legislative committee prepares to receive a status report today.
The Department of Health and Human Services has set a statewide goal of serving 40 percent of people in need of mental health services. That’s not exactly a lofty goal, but that’s one they have set.
The statewide average among the 24 Local Management Entities that oversee services is 45 percent, but some LMEs are seeing as few as 24 percent of the people in their area who need help.
The state has set a goal of seeing 70 percent of people discharged from mental hospitals within a week of their release. The statewide average is 49 percent and one LME is only seeing 24 percent of the people leaving hospitals.
Today’s Fitzsimon File has more on the report lawmakers will get today.
