While legislation providing an extension of unemployment benefits and subsidized health insurance for laid off workers remains tied up in the U.S. Senate, one North Carolina congressman is busy brainstorming ideas to fix the economy and get Americans spending again.

On Tuesday, Rep. Patrick McHenry [1] (R-NC) announced new legislation [2] to redesign the $50 bill to include the likeness of President Ronald Reagan.

McHenry’s legislation (H.R. 4705) would boot Ulysses S. Grant off the currency in favor of our 40th President.

“President Reagan was a modern day statesman, whose presidency transformed our nation’s political and economic thinking,” said McHenry in a release issued by his office.
