Top of the morning

The New York Times reports that three members of North Carolina’s Congressional delegation are among the 40 members of the House being bombarded with ads by both sides as a final vote on health care reform approaches.

Representatives Bobby Etheridge, Larry Kissell, and Mike McIntyre have all been singled out for special attention. Etheridge had the good sense to vote for the House health care bill months ago, while Kissell and McIntyre voted against helping thousands of people in their districts afford health care.

They are likely to have one more chance this week. Let’s hope they stand with the people who elected them, not the insurance companies and corporate lobbyists who would rather protect their profits and leave 1.6 million people in North Carolina uninsured.

The people that elected them DO feel they stood with them on their first “No” vote.

    “The people that elected them”

Your mistake is in assuming that everyone agrees with you on this, when in fact EVERY poll taken shows that you are simply wrong about this. I know it’s a conservative principle to refuse to accept reality, but it only makes you look foolish …

As a Democrat and apparently one of the few true progressives left standing, I hope they vote no too.

Rep. Etheridge was quite correct to vote for the House bill as it was passed. Just as McIntyre and Kissell were wrong to oppose the original House bill.

But this Senate bill is atrocious and an affront to true progressives.

Watching so-called progressives attempting to apply pressure on House members to accept the Senate bill is disgusting.

    Ditto, Hunter.

Seems the White House is calling the shots now. President Obama apparently made a deal with the Insurance Cartel: if they would agree not to stand in his way on “health care reform” he would yank the Public Option. Well they still undermined his efforts (remember those bogus “Chamber of Commerce” ads) yet he’s still holding up his end of the bargain?!?!?!

A too late lesson for President Obama — if you deal with the devil you get burned — and so do we!

    Pass the lighter fluid, Nancy.

It’s not about helping people. It’s about power. That’s why they won’t stop. They don’t care what we want. It only matters what they want.
