North Carolina’s elected officials have expressed qualified support for President Barack Obama’s recent proposal to open the Atlantic coastline to offshore drilling [1].

But that’s not the only environmental concern facing the General Assembly when they return to Raleigh next month.

Jane Preyer [2], director of the Southeast office of the Environmental Defense Fund [3], weighs in on renewable energy, climate change, and seawalls this weekend on “News & Views.”

Preyer also discusses why thoughtful policies addressing clean water and clean energy will improve North Carolina’s economic outlook.
