Jacquelyn Clymore has spent more than two decades working with Raleigh’s HIV/AIDS care community. Now in her role as North Carolina’s AIDS director [1], she says the state is making progress it terms of education and prevention.

Yet there are 2,000 new cases of HIV diagnosed in North Carolina every year and more than 600 people on a waiting list for the state AIDS Drug Assistance Program.

Clymore tells NC Policy Watch that while her branch is working to ensure the state’s limited funds are used wisely, budget writers should not shortchange those waiting for ADAP’s help [2] to access life saving HIV/AIDS medications.
