This may not be surprising, but it is troubling nonetheless. A new study [2] of the media’s coverage of the health care debate finds [3] that the horse race and political intrigue are more interesting to the media powers that be than how the issue affects our lives.

Fully 41% of health care coverage focused on the tactics and strategy of the debate while various reform proposals filled another 23%. But only 9% of the coverage focused on a core issue — how our health care system currently functions, what works and what doesn’t

It’s no wonder that people are so easily mislead by the demagogues.
