Are there any pressing issues in the 8th District?

Now that Harold Johnson has defeated Tim D’Annunzio for the right to challenge Larry Kissell in the November election one has to wonder what Johnson wants to do in public office.

He has one of the only campaign websites I’ve seen without a single issue or interest listed. In fact, I couldn’t find any other site, Democrat or Republican, without an “issues” page or some other indication of what motivates the candidate. Larry Kissell’s site comes the closest with “accomplishments” listed instead of issues. His accomplishments, by the way, are pretty thin. That’s understandable given his lack of time in the House, but he could give us a few big policy problems that he wants to tackle.

The feel that Johnson isn’t an intellectual juggernaut is reinforced by his inability to articulate any particular stand he will take in Washington.

I suppose Johnson will have to mention some issue before the election. So far it seems that his only qualification is that he’s not Tim D’Annunzio.
