The Pulse’s favorite economist Dean Baker had some more strong words [2] this week for outgoing UNC President Erskine Bowles and the deficit commission he co-chairs.

Baker says that when Bowles recently told the National Governors Association that just paying the interest on the national debt could cost $2 trillion a year, he was off by 100 percent and nobody in the media seemed to notice or care.

It is difficult to believe that if Speaker Pelosi or some other prominent Democrat argued for a stimulus package because the unemployment rate is 19.0 percent that the media would ignore their disconnect with reality.
