Happy Labor Day

Post on September 6, 2010 by 1 Comment »

In honor of Labor Day, here are 17 poems from the Poetry Foundation on the topic.

There’s a classic from Poet Laureate W.S. Merwin, but my favorite of these might just be “To the Negro Farmers of the United States” by Alice Moore Dunbar-Nelson.

If that kind of poetry’s not your speed, we’re approaching the 9th anniversary of Aesop Rock’s indie hip hop classic “Labor Days.” Listen to the opening not-quite-title track here.
