As most everyone is aware by now, the Comedy Central news team of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert is hosting a giant event in the nation’s capital on Saturday October 30. The combination “Rally to Restore Sanity” / “March to Keep Fear Alive” is expected to bring as many as 100,000 people (or more) to Washington for a kind of irreverent, peaceful, anti-tea bag event.
Of course, not everyone can make it to DC. For those not able to make the trip, satellite events are popping up all over in which like-minded folks can gather, watch the TV feed from the big show and add a little local spin.
At last check, there were scores of such events scheduled all over the globe, but none in North Carolina.
Until now! Today, NC Policy Watch is delighted to announce that it is sponsoring “Raleigh to Restore Sanity” – a deliberately derivative event here in North Carolina’s capital city.
When: Saturday October 30 – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The TV feed from DC is scheduled to start at noon.
What’s happening? A fun, non-hate-filled gathering where you can watch the show in DC and get good food and a beer with friends.
Who is it for? Reasonably sane and hopeful people who have no desire to take North Carolina back to the 19th Century or compare other people to Hitler – at least publicly.
Why: Things are getting a little wacky out there. Caring and thoughtful people desperately need a place to register their frustration with the current political winds and maybe even see that they’re in the majority!
How: Come by car, foot, bike, bus or Segway (the far right has helped make sure, however, that light rail is not yet an option).
What else? Fun, door prizes, informative propaganda
See ya’ there!
