Pope’s spending hard money too

Art Pope is not just funding groups like Real Jobs NC and Civitas Action to run slimy ads against Democrats to help Republicans get elected this year.

He and his family are giving directly to candidates too, and at significant levels.

A quick review of only the key Senate races shows that Pope and his immediate family members contributed at least $127,000 to Republican Senate candidates in the last reporting period, July 1st to October 16.

That figure does not include contributions made before that period or since and remember that’s just the Senate.  The House numbers are likely to be higher since there are so many more races.

This election for Republicans has turned into Pope’s crusade.

What is this preoccupation with Art Pope ? The man is certainly allowed to give his money to any candidates that he may choose as long as he does not break campaign laws. For years, the taxpayers have supported ACORN which is nothing but a Democratic organizer. It makes no sense for taxpayers to be doing that. Someone needs to find another cause !
