House Dems to GOP: You know the harm this budget will cause (video)

After three hours of debate, the NC House gave final approval to its budget Wednesday. The 72-47 vote included five Democrats who sided with the majority.

Wake County Republican Rep. Nelson Dollar called the $19.3 billion package a “responsible, jobs budget.”

But Jackson County Democrat Rep. Phil Haire questioned how Dollar could suggest it was a jobs budget when it ultimately will eliminate between 20,000 and 30,000 state jobs. Fellow Democrat Rep. William Wainwright charged the Republican’s bill will reverse two decades of steady progress for North Carolina.
