This, from a Charlotte Observer Sunday editorial, is almost all you need to know about the hypocrisy of the Republicans’ redistricting maps.

We had hoped for better from the N.C. GOP. But power is a great aphrodisiac. The Republicans are intent on doing everything possible to solidify GOP power in the state including spending money pursuing expensive court action taxpayers will foot the cost for to ensure early approval of the new districts so they can be in place for the 2012 elections.
