A richly deserved award

A trio of incredibly dedicated consumer rights lawyers from North Carolina will receive the Public Justice Achievement Award tonight from the national nonprofit known as Public Justice at the group’s 29th Annual Gala and Awards Dinner in New York. The award acknowledge’s the group’s successful litigation against the predatory “payday lending” industry that helped cement the banishment of this pernicious practice from North Carolina and recover a lot of money for a lot of ripped-off people.  

The lawyers include: the N.C. Justice Center’s own Carlene McNulty (pictured) along with Mal Maynard of the Financial Protection Law Center in Wilmington and Raleigh trial lawyer Jerry Hartzell. Great work guys!

    Since everybody wants to give credit where credit is due, Mona Wallace and John Hughes, Wallace and Graham Law Firm, Salisbury, NC were NC lawyers who initiated the payday loan cases in NC and were active throughout the prosecution of these cases. They received the same award and recognition as the three attorneys mentioned in the article
