The two chairs of the Redistricting Committee released their latest set of maps Tuesday, redrawing North Carolina’s 13 congressional districts.
The so-called “Rucho-Lewis 2” plan places both Reps. David Price and Brad Miller in the 4th Congressional district. Likewise, Reps. Mike McIntyre and Larry Kissell would now share the 8th District.
Rep. Miller has told reporters he will not enter a primary race against Price, a long-time friend. For his part, Price issued a statement late in the day calling the new redistricting proposal “a mockery of the notion that districts should be compact and include communities of interest.”
But congressional Democrats aren’t the only ones upset by the proposed districts as they stand.
Rep. Ross, who joins us on News & Views this weekend, says the legislative maps are a “blatant attempt” to ensure fewer female Democrats get re-elected in 2012.
