The conspiracy kooks

In the right wing’s long list of crazy beliefs, few make less sense that the notion — repeated again this week by the Governor of Texas – that global warming is a hoax cooked up by devious liberal scientists.

To which in reply, all a sane body can say is:

What planet are you guys on?  Do you really believe that thousands of the smartest people in the world are engaged in some nefarious conspiracy to…to… to do what? To make their own lives more complex? To bring about difficult sacrifices that could limit the availability of carefree human consumption? Do you think that scientists don’t like air conditioning or fast cars?

Seriously, if you’re going to allege such a monstrous plot by thousands of our best and brightest people, you’ve got to explain why in the hell they’d want to do something that so obviously goes against their own self-interest. What’s in it for them?

If there’s any “conspiracy” that makes sense in the context of the climate change issue, it would obviously be one in which giant carbon-based energy companies would manufacture junk science and promote lackey politicans from their home areas to question anything that might cut into industry profits.

Believe it or not, there’s someone from Texas actually dumber than George W. Bush.

Wasn’t it a liberal scientist who figured out that the earth revolved around the sun?

Stephen, the really dumb one is the person who believes what he is told without questioning it. To blindly follow the village idiot, Al Gore, is dumbness personnified.
