Economic incentives hit a new low

How anyone could read this relatively lengthy article in today’s Wilmington Star-News [1] and not be struck by its utter ridiculousness is beyond me.

This is not a knock on reporter Patrick Gannon so much as it is on the absurdity of a gaggle of our elected officials commenting on apparently well-developed plans to spend public money on a gift to a private (apparently anyway) corporation without telling us who they are or what they plan to do!

I mean “what the heck?”

How much do you want to bet that at least some of the legislators quoted had absolutely no idea what they were talking about but didn’t want to admit they were being kept in the dark by the Department of Commerce?

If I didn’t think I know better, I’d say it was a Captain Tuttle [2]moment.
