Marriage amendment economics

Wasn’t it just two weeks ago that Rep. Stam, Folwell and the other marriage discrimination proponents were explaining to us: a)  how terrible it was that North Carolina is the only southern state without an anti-LGBT marriage amendment and b) that the states that have them also have the rosiest economies?   

This is from this morning’s NYT [1]:

“The once-booming South, which entered the recession with the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, is now struggling with some of the highest rates, recent data [2] from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show.”
