Time for Wake School Board to take a step back

Here are some things we know after last night’s School Board election in Wake County:

1- The current Board should halt its current ill-conceived reassignment plan [1]. It would be absurd, mean-spirited and wasteful to ram it through only weeks before a new Board under new leadership takes over.

2- There will be a new direction for the Board, Right-wing challenger Heather Losurdo has no chance to overhaul incumbent Kevin Hill [2] – who stands only 40 or so votes short of 50% in a four-person race. A runoff will be expensive and a waste of time. Losurdo would do her community a great service by dropping any call for a runoff.

3- The Board will meet again this Thursday the 13th. It seems likely that concerned residents will be out yet again in large numbers to call upon lame duck chair Ron Margiotta and his cohorts to show a little class and decencyby taking their foot off of the accelerator.

4- With respect to #2 and #3, no one’s holding their breath.
