More violent imagery from the right

[1]A few months ago in this space [2], we  called attention to the repeated use of violent imagery and hateful and personal – even misogynistic - attacks by North Carolina right-wing politicians.

Last month, the seriously troubled GOP congressional candidate Vernon Robinson revived the machine gun fundraiser [3].

Now, this week, we get word of more of the same as Senate Republicans hold another gun fundraiser — this one featuring more tasteless attacks on the Governor of the state [4].

A note to NC conservatives (including Senate leader Phil Berger – pictured above): Come on people, show just a smidgen of class and respect. We all know that politics is a rough and tumble game, but please ditch the violence and macho posturing.  In these tough times in which the a lot of disturbed people are out there living under great stress, the last thing we need is for supposedly responsible elected officials to be making jokes about weapons and other officials with whom they disagree.
