As troubling as rising student loan debt – the impact of budget cuts on NC universities (Video)

President Barack Obama spent Tuesday afternoon in North Carolina speaking out against the rising cost of college tuition and making the case for Congress to keep student loans affordable.
But what was left unsaid in much of the coverage  of the presidential visit was how the UNC system has been impacted by the $414 million budget cut approved by state legislators last summer.
In a recent interview on N.C. Policy Watch’s News & Views, N.C. State University Chancellor Randy Woodson  offered a very candid assessment of how the research university has struggled to balance the cuts while offering a world-class education:
“The academic core of the university is stretched to the limit,” said Woodson.
