Immigrant small business owners play important role in North Carolina’s economy

Often lost amidst the heat and light of the immigration debate is the important contribution to the state’s economy made by immigrants, including foreign-born small business owners.  These immigrant entrepreneurs hire North Carolina workers, pay North Carolina taxes, and provide critical services to North Carolina residents.  In hard numbers, the specific contributions of these business owners can be found in a Budget & Tax Center fact sheet [1] based on a national report written by the Fiscal Policy Institute [2].
