Missing from the budget debate

Here’s something [1] you didn’t much about about during this week’s budget debate.

Al Delia, the secretary of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, said about 15,000 senior citizens across the state will not receive services because agencies do not have enough funding…Elderly people who need in-home help and meals are particularly vulnerable, he said. About 6,500 people are on waiting lists statewide for in-home aid, and 3,500 are waiting for meals.

Remind me again while we are giving $500,000 [2] in public money to a private culinary arts school in Charlotte.
