The deafening silence from McCrory and Dalton

As the Duke Energy fiasco continues to spread and unravel, it raises an obvious question for any major North Carolina politician seeking high office : What is your stance on this apparent rip-off that’s being perpetrated on consumers?
The two most obvious and relevant people to whom this question should be posed are Pat McCrory and Walter Dalton.
Whoever wins the gubernatorial contest between the two men this fall will have as one of his first chores the appointment of a vacant slot on the state Utilities Commission — a position that’s been left inexcusably open since last year because GOP legislative leaders didn’t want to allow a “lame duck” governor to have the appointment.
McCrory worked for Duke Power for years and Duke boss Jim Rogers is a big Democratic fundraiser and the Co-Chair of th Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, which might be why Dalton has yet to weigh in.
Will either guy muster the courage to stand up for consumers? The answer to that question will tell us a lot about both men and, perhaps, our state’s future.
The silence so far is deafening.
