Atkinson: Vouchers, tax credits not in the best interest of public education (video)

Almost 55% of North Carolina’s general fund budget is spent on education. That figure helps underscore the importance of this year’s race for North Carolina superintendent of public instruction.

Republican John Tedesco, a member of the Wake Co. Board of Education, is challenging incumbent Democrat June Atkinson [1]in the race.

Tedesco [2] joined us last week on News & Views to talk about school choice and and his four-point plan [3] for revitalizing public education.

On this weekend’s radio program, Dr. Atkinson joins us to talk rising graduation rates, a legislative push for school privatization, and the impact of state budget cuts on the classroom.
