In today’s Weekly Briefing Rob Schofield revisits Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Hedrick Smith’s new book, “Who Stole the American Dream?” that takes a closer look at the real causes of our shrinking middle class.
Smith also joins us this weekend on News & Views with Chris Fitzsimon to discuss the accidental beginnings of the 401(k), with disastrous economic consequences for many; why average Americans are struggling to keep afloat; and how Wall Street often wins politically despite repeated calls for financial reform.
“The agenda of the middle class, the things that need to get done for the middle class, aren’t going to be done when the lobbying leverage and the political money that’s being poured into Washington by big corporations and Wall Street is going to rule the day,” explains Smith.
