Congressman Brad Miller is one of the few politicians not on the campaign trail this week. Miller bowed out of his race earlier this year after redistricting pitted him against fellow Democrat David Price. But Rep. Miller is voicing concerns about how the 2012 elections could roll back hard fought for financial reforms and protections for consumers.
He joined us on News and Views to discuss the need for a strong, independent Consumer Financial Protection Bureau , and what action Congress may take after the election:
“There’s a lot to worry about whether it [Consumer Financial Protection Bureau] will continue to be an effective agency,” said Miller. “I think a president not sympathetic to consumer protection and very sympathetic to the financial industry could appoint a new director who could change course, and make the agency pretty much useless.”
