The real winner last night in North Carolina

Pat McCrory may be North Carolina’s Governor-elect and a  hyper-gerrymandered legislature may be solidly in conservative hands, but there was one man who was the biggest winner in the state last night and his name is Art Pope.

The chain store magnate and failed politician of the last century has clearly become the single most powerful figure in the North Carolina political world of the early 21st Century. Through the steady application of boatloads of cash and an incessant drumbeat of fear-based messaging from a multi-tentacled propaganda machine, Pope has emerged as the state’s de facto boss.

From the Governor’s mansion, to the General Assembly to the courts to the university system to the regulatory agencies to the increasingly conservative mainstream news media, Pope lackeys and apologists now run the show in our state (or soon will). Like some long-bullied kid in a horror movie who quietly and ruthlessly engineers the demise of his tormentors, Pope has suddenly emerged as the unchallenged kingpin of the Tar Heel state.

And, barring a miracle, North Carolinians (and the public structures and systems that once set them apart from the rest of the old confederacy) are about to experience the full effects of his backward-looking agenda.

Progressives who want to resist this agenda have their work cut out for them.

It sure wasn’t the people of NC.

The citizens of NC were the real winners.

I’m holding out for divine intervention. Any god worth a damn would not tolerate this man’s arrogance.

The good news? In 30 or 40 years, Art Pope will be just another dead pile of bones, signifying nothing of value or interest. A flyspeck on a footnote in the history of greed and corruption.

I do find it interesting how y’all demonize a businessman like Art Pope but when George Soros’ name comes up, its the sound of silence. I guess he’s paying your bills.

Never ever assume a Democrat liberal has any sense of fairness. Nonprofits across NC are used daily to further the cause of the Democrat Party. They are part of the problem or they turn their head and close their eyes.

There is a huge difference between “furthering a cause” and buying the damn thing outright.

Very few of those “liberal” groups have the deep pockets like Art Pope. And they are working for the common good not for the good of Art Pope. Pope is like Furnifold Simmons who was the boss of the NC Democratic Party in the early who also used voter suppression and smear tactics as well.

Carolina Plott Hound has got you pegged. You don’t care about Soros’ vote fraud engineering (a.k.a. his Secretary of State Project), the New Black Panthers’ vote suppression in Philadelphia, the suppression of military votes, or any crimes your party has actually committed that you (falsely, more often than not) accuse Republicans of doing. You and your parasitic party are a cruel blight on the world, and only when we are rid of you cross-burning goose-steppers will the world be healed.

North Carolina is one of just a few winners today; when you totalitarians tear this nation apart, and the states are on their own, we might even have something like decent leadership for the coming Dark Age.

It couldn’t of been because of Gov. Sleazy, Dumbling, or Jim Black. Oh, lets not forget John Edwards a member of the evil 1% called American Bar Assholes. Penny-tax liberals who call something temporary that never goes away, Undemocratic emergency loans piling debt on top of debt, Paying college professors to teach “FAUX” classes with pension & benefits, double digit unemployment because “shovel-ready well wasn’t so shovel-ready”. People who talk about the enviro while subsidize not-so-green Data Centers. Mass-transit that runs on green fairy dust instead of nuclear waste & coal ashe doesnt exist. The cherry on top thousands of steralized people. Thanks Art,

It is better than the progressive lackeys and Felons (Jim Black, Easley, and soon to be Perdue) who have been running the state for the past 100 years.

Art Pope willset the state of North Carolina back 100 years. His radical beliefs are not acceptical in a formally progressive state.
