Obamacare: NC hospitals get $13 billion if NC expands Medicaid

A new report out looks at the detailed financial costs and benefits to each state of expanding Medicaid under Obamacare.  In NC, the Medicaid expansion would mean that 500,000 adults in our state with incomes under about $15,000 a year would be eligible for health coverage.  Over the next ten years these folks will also need a certain amount of hospital care – and if we expand Medicaid hospitals will get over $13 billion to provide it.   [1]No Medicaid expansion?  Hospitals will still be providing a great deal of this care to poor uninsured people anyway.  They just won’t get paid for it.
